“Osmanthus Heterophyllus (False Holly) is an attractive, slow-growing holly-like shrub beloved for its deliciously fragrant flowers and lustrous dark-green leaves, spiny when young but gaining a smooth edge as they mature. Although the white flowers are very small, their fragrance is powerful enough to perfume the air for several days. Thus, they are ideal near a front door or along a frequently traversed path. Osmanthus Heterophyllus will withstand heavy pruning and prefers moist, well-drained, acidic soil (though fairly tolerant of alkaline) and medium shade.”
